Rutgers basketball added a commitment from FIU guard transfer Austin Williams Saturday afternoon.
Williams will make his 4th stop in college basketball in Piscataway. The New Jersey native started his career at Marist before transferring to Hartford. He once again transferred to FIU as a grad transfer but never saw the floor with a knee injury.
Williams (6-4) is 25 years old and originally hails from Roseland, NJ. While at Hartford, his last collegiate stop with playing time, he averaged 15.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

This is a good move for the Scarlet Knights for a few reasons. For one, it gives Rutgers 13 scholarship players. For another, Williams is likely to see significant minutes right away as a major contributor with Paul Mulcahy and Cam Spencer out the door.
Williams is likely to be Rutgers’ 5th starter or potentially a 6th man for the Scarlet Knights come November.
