Rutgers is working on its resurgence under head coach Greg Schiano, and the 2021 season saw another improved team during his second season back with the team.
Last season, the Scarlet Knights went 5-7 during the regular season after 3 wins in the shortened 2020 campaign. Despite falling short of 6 wins, Rutgers did get the opportunity to play in a bowl game. That proved to be a loss to Wake Forest.
As the team prepares for 2022 and beyond, Schiano and his staff continue to hit the recruiting trail hard. On Thursday, it paid off with another in-state prospect committing.
This time, it was offensive lineman JaSire Peterson.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Peterson is a 3-star prospect and the No. 8 player out of New Jersey for the class of 2023. He is also rated as the No. 24 interior OL in the country.
Peterson committed to the Scarlet Knights over offers from Nebraska, Illinois, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Boston College, among others.
