Rutgers’ recruiting continues to reach new heights in Year 2 under Greg Schiano.
Last week, the Scarlet Knights picked up a commitment from Jacob Allen, a 4-star offensive tackle who is the No. 1 player in New Jersey according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
If Allen signs with Rutgers, it would make history for the Scarlet Knights. The No. 1 player in New Jersey hasn’t signed with Rutgers in a decade.
The last player to do so was Darius Hamilton, who was a 5-star pass rusher in the 2012 recruiting class. Hamilton ended his Rutgers career with 27 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.
Allen brings Rutgers up to five 4-star commitments in the 2022 recruiting class. The Scarlet Knights are currently ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 3 in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Allen is also the No. 11 offensive tackle and the No. 110 overall player in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
In total, Schiano has already secured 12 commitments, including six from the Garden State.
The Early Signing Period for the 2022 class is in December.
