Just a few days ago, Rutgers head coach Chris Ash announced that Louisville-transfer Kyle Bolin would be the starting quarterback for the Scarlet Knights to open the season.

Bolin, who transferred after Lamar Jackson won the starting job at Louisville, brings some stability to the quarterback position in Piscataway, something it’s lacked over the past two seasons. And in the days leading up to the beginning of the 2017 season, everyone is wanting to talk with the gunslinger about football.

Big Ten Network’s Tom Dienhart wanted to talk to the former Louisville quarterback a little more in-depth though, and get to know Bolin on a more personal level. So the two sat down for a one-on-one conversation.

There were plenty of great questions and excellent responses, but here are just some snippets of the conversation between Dienhart and Bolin:

Dienhart: Why did you opt for Rutges?

Bolin: When I decided to transfer, I wanted to find a program where I had the best opportunity to be successful and to make it to the next level. After talking to a few programs and weighing my options, I felt Rutgers was the best opportunity in terms of competition we would be facing and opportunity to get on the field and help change a program.

Dienhart: Do you keep in touch with Lamar Jackson?

Bolin:  I do. I try to keep in touch with the quarterbacks as much as I can (at Louisville). They have been busy preparing for Purdue this weekend. But I will definitely be sending them a text on Saturday morning to wish them best of luck.

Dienhart: What is your pregame ritual?

Bolin: I  like to walk the field and say one Hail Mary at each end zone. And then I drop to a knee and say the “Our Father” at the middle of the field. And I also listen to “The World’s Greatest” by R. Kelly before every game.

Those are just a few of the highlights of the conversation between the BTN analyst and the Rutgers quarterback.
