Rutgers’ offense saw significant improvements during the 2020 season, but the team is hoping to take another big step this fall. That means the Scarlet Knights need some guys to step up at the skill positions.

Isaiah Washington might be one of the top candidates.

Saturday, Rutgers shared a video of Washington making an incredible touchdown catch during the early start to fall camp. The receiver was able to hold off a defender while hauling in a pass in the back of the end zone.

Yes, it’s early, but this should have Rutgers fans at least a little giddy about what Washington’s potential is this season.

Last year, Washington totaled 9 catches for 96 yards and accounted for 5 plays that resulted in 1st downs. As a freshman in 2019, the receiver hauled in 18 receptions for 272 yards and a touchdown.

With a full season ahead, Washington looks like he’s ready to make big improvements to his game. He’s already flashing some of that ability in training camp.

Rutgers opens the 2021 season with a Sept. 2 matchup against Temple.
