Ryan Day addresses Dallan Hayden’s limited role in The Game

Ryan Day answered a question that some Ohio State fans have had since The Game. Dallan Hayden had just two carries in the loss to Michigan after a string of solid performances in back-to-back weeks.
Hayden was coming off of 100+ yards rushing outings against Indiana and Maryland heading into the Michigan game. However, Chip Trayanum received more touches in the Ohio State backfield. Trayanum did have 83 yards rushing on 14 carries, but fans felt like Hayden should have gotten more reps.

Day stated that Hayden did not fit into the flow of the game against Michigan. Hayden could still have a big role in the Peach Bowl according to Day.
The decision did not have to do with ball protection either. Day revealed that RB coach Tony Alford took over the rotation after the Buckeyes were forced to go with more pass protection down the stretch.
“Down the stretch, it got to be a little more pass protection, and I let Tony (Alford) handle (the rotation),” said Day.
Ryan Day said ball security did not play into the decision for Dallan Hayden’s lack of snaps against Michigan.

Fans will have to wait and see how Hayden gets used in the Peach Bowl.
