Besides receiving the good news that they are in the College Football Playoff, Ohio State also got some good news about a change in COVID-19 protocol.
It appears that we are going to have a change in the Big Ten’s return-to-play rules. It is being reported that the league will now make players sit out 17 days if they test positive for COVID, as opposed to the previous 21-day rule. That appears like it might help an Ohio State team struggling to stay healthy.
Though the rule was first thought of just to be for the Buckeyes as they prepare for their game against Clemson, Ryan Day hinted on Sunday when meeting with the media that this rule will also extend to other sports such as basketball.
Ryan Day on the Big Ten changing the return-to-play protocol from 21 days to 17 days: “That's for all sports, it's not just for us.” Rule change will apply to basketball and all other Big Ten sports, not just for Ohio State in the College Football Playoff.

This has to be Day getting sick of hearing about rule changes that favor the Buckeyes. It probably wasn’t even supposed to be revealed, but he is likely just trying to get some heat off his team’s back.
It could certainly help Ohio State as the team was without nearly two dozen players in Saturday’s Big Ten Championship Game. The Buckeyes could sure use players back such as wide receiver Chris Olave so they have the best shot possible at defeating Clemson.
