Ryan Day is looking to get Ohio State back to the College Football Playoff this season. Before they get there, the Buckeyes will also look to regain control of the B1G after watching Michigan claim the title in back-to-back seasons.
While at B1G Media Days, the head coach at Ohio State sat down with Josh Pate from 247 Sports to discuss his team. He also labeled the aspect of his squad that excites him the most.
Day pointed to a talent-rich team on offense and defense with depth at running back, but he’s particularly fired up because of the experience of the Buckeyes:
“You sleep knowing you have some experience, certainly on defense, probably the best we’ve been since 2019. Year 2 with Coach Knowles,” said Day. “On, offense, probably the most skill we’ve had on offense in a long time. We’ve gotta fill some holes on the o-line, figure out who our QB is going to be. Unbelievable depth at RB.
“So all the pieces are in place but that’s not really what fires me up the most. To me, this is the most experienced team we’ve had.”

While the concerns exist around the QB battle and offensive line, there’s no denying the amount of production and experience, particularly on the defensive side of the ball this season. If the front 7 of the Buckeyes can set the tone, it could be a long season for teams on Ohio State’s schedule.
