Ryan Day ‘ought to be ashamed of himself’ for Week 6 finish, says Matt Barrie

Ryan Day and Ohio State kept an undefeated season rolling in Week 6 with a win over Maryland. After the Terrapins kept things close for a while, the Buckeyes eventually woke up and dominated the second half for a 37-17 win.
On Sunday’s edition of “The Matt Barrie Show,” Barrie dissected how Kyle McCord’s career day came “out of nowhere” after a slow start. A lot of that was aided by an 8-catch day for Marvin Harrison Jr. with the star wideout eclipsing 160 yards.
“Maryland early on teased us against Ohio State. And then Kyle McCord out of nowhere throws for a career-high 320 yards,” said Barrie. “It all happened in the 4th quarter because Ohio State was sleepwalking, needed a pick-6 to get it done. And Ohio State’s blowing people out.”
As for the finish to the game, Barrie had some words for Day’s decision to go for the cover with a “meaningless” field goal late in the game.
“Backdoor cover band by the way. Ryan Day ought to be ashamed of himself. They were up 17 late, kicked a meaningless field goal to go up 20,” Barrie explained. “That spread was 19.5, for those of us that were on Maryland plus the points, it was a real backbreaker.”
