Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has provided an update on Buckeyes defensive lineman Haskell Garrett, who was hospitalized following a shooting this weekend.
Over the weekend, Garrett was located by police with a gunshot wound to the “cheeks of his face,” according to a report from WBNS 10TV. Garrett was transported to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries. He was in stable condition.
“Haskell Garrett has been receiving excellent care at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for the injuries he received on Sunday,” Day said in a statement. “We anticipate he will be released from the Medical Center this morning. On behalf of his family and this football program, we would like to thank all those who have been a part of Haskell’s treatment and we are grateful that he will be heading home today. We will continue to help him and his family any way we can to expedite his recovery.”
No additional information was provided in regards to the shooting or a potential suspect by police over the weekend.
Garrett is a senior with the Ohio State football team and is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. He has appeared in 33 career games with the Buckeyes over the last three years.
