The format of a spring game differs from program to program, and on Wednesday morning, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day outlined what Saturday’s scrimmage will look like.
Day met with the media for his final press conference before Saturday’s spring game. While he discussed a bevy of topics, he also detailed how the scrimmage would operate. Here are a few things to expect on Saturday:
- Good vs. Good: The first-team offense will go against first-team defense and reserves vs. reserves. There will be no spring game draft. Several players will have two-way jerseys.
- Don’t expect to see established players like J.K. Dobbins, Chase Young, etc. too much.
- It will be a “thud” game, meaning players will hit during the scrimmage, but there won’t be any tackling.
- 10 minute quarters with a running clock in the second half.
With just a few days until the spring game, Ohio State has already sold over 63,000 tickets. With construction to Ohio Stadium, the capacity for this year’s event is 76,000.
