Ryan Day says Nebraska should have been able to replace Wisconsin game

Not too long after reports started coming in Thursday morning that Nebraska had come to an agreement with the University of Tennessee Chattanooga to play a game Saturday afternoon — replacing their cancelled game with Wisconsin on the Saturday afternoon slate — the powers that be at the Big Ten offices rejected the proposal.
While Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos and chancellor Ronnie Green graciously accepted the Big Ten’s decision, indicating in their statement that they “respect their decision,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day didn’t hesitate in expressing his sentiment.
“There’s a team in Lincoln who wanted an opportunity to play, and they aren’t playing this week,” Day said on his weekly radio show. “When you’re the head coach and you have to look at your players and say, we aren’t playing, even though they did everything right, that’s hard to swallow.”
“I thought they should have had the opportunity to [add an opponent].”

This showing of support from Day comes less than a week after his Buckeyes handed Nebraska a 52-17 loss.
Day and his Buckeye squad are preparing to travel to College Station this Saturday to take on Penn State with a 6:30 pm kickoff.
Meanwhile, Nebraska will have to wait until Week 3 against Northwestern to resume its season.
