Ryan Day was not sure what happened in he first half as Ohio State got off to a sluggish start, and was fortunate enough to be tied at halftime against Maryland. The Buckeyes recovered and coasted to a 37-17 victory on Saturday.
After the game, Day spoke with FOX Sports about the victory and how his team bounced back.
“Just not very happy with how we played in the first half, especially on offense,” Day said. “We’ll look at the reasons why, certainly got ourselves off schedule but the way we played in the second half is the way Buckeye football is supposed to be played.”
Fortunately for Ohio State, the defense held the line, and gave the offense time to recover. Day said that’s what he envisions for a whole team effort.
“I think that’s the point: What’s the potential? I think it started here, we know we can get better,” Day said. “We’re gonna get on the film and get better, but when we’re playing complementary football like this, we have a chance to be as good as we want to be. We’re not close where we need to be, but it was good to play this way in the second half and a lot to grow upon, lot to build on.”
It could have been a bye week lag, but Day said the Buckeyes played tough, and now they have to regroup to face Purdue next.
