This might be the first spring in which Ryan Day is overseeing all operations for Ohio State, but with several years of coaching experience, the new Buckeyes leaders knows what to look for this time of year.

On Monday, Day met with the media to discuss Ohio State’s spring practice through this point. So far, the new head coach sounds fairly pleased with how things have progressed over the last few weeks.

According to Colin Hass-Hill of Eleven Warriors, Day says that the Buckeyes have done some really good things on the offensive side of the football, and there have been several explosive plays throughout spring. However, it’s the consistency and leadership on that side that Day would like to see more of in the final few weeks of the spring season.

Ohio State lost some key playmakers from last season, has a new quarterback under center and has some fresh faces on the field from the 2019 recruiting class. It’s not overly surprising that consistency is an issue at this point in the offseason.

But that’s definitely an area the Buckeyes would like to clean up when summer and fall roll around.

It sounds like Ohio State’s offense should be about as good as advertised next fall, but there are still a few kinks that need to be worked out. There’s still plenty of time to get that worked out before the Buckeyes open the 2019 season.

Fans will be able to get their first look at the 2019 team on Saturday, April 13 when the Buckeyes hold their annual spring game.
