Ryan Day watched as Ohio State suffered another loss in The Game to Michigan. It goes down as a third straight defeat for the Buckeyes in The Game after previously dominating the most recent decade in the series.
At his postgame press conference, Day addressed the feelings of coming up short and admitted the team is “sick” to miss regaining the rivalry series.
“Hard to describe. Just sick that we came up short in this game,” said Day. “You work your whole year for this game.”
Asked for his message to the locker room, Day did not get into specifics but admitted the team knows how much this rivalry means to everyone involved. Overall, he knows the team lost key categories in the stat sheet, and it’s tough to win when that happens.
“I try to keep what we talk about in the locker room to ourselves. We’re all disappointed. We know what this game means to so many people and to come up short is just crushing,” Day explained. “Not only just because you invest your whole year in it but we know at Ohio State what this game means. There’s a locker room in there that’s devastated. It wasn’t a lack of effort, but again. We didn’t win the rushing yards, we didn’t win the turnover battle. You’re not going to win The Game (that way).”
