Ryan Day speaks to Will Howard’s starter mentality, QB competition at Ohio State

Ryan Day on Wednesday gave an update of the newly revamped Ohio State quarterback situation, led by Will Howard, the Kansas State transfer. Day said he believes Howard has the starter’s mentality.
“Will came here to play football, so I hope that’s his mentality, and I hope all the guys have that mentality,” Day said. “He’s got to learn the offense and get going.”
However, Day also promoted a “fierce competition” with Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz, Air Noland and Julian Sayin. Day added that he thinks it’s important that the defense has to be aware of the quarterback as a running threat. And he thinks every quarterback on the roster can provide that for Ohio State.
That element was the first thing Day noticed when he considered Howard.
