Ryan Day was clearly furious with Ohio State’s defense in the 1st half of Rose Bowl Game

Ryan Day wasn’t happy with Ohio State’s defensive effort in the first half of Saturday evening’s Rose Bowl Game. After surrendering 35 points to Utah, it’s easy to understand why.
Ohio State trails Utah 35-21 in the Rose Bowl at halftime. The two teams combined for 649 yards of total offense and, at one point, the two teams scored 4 touchdowns in 65 seconds in the second quarter.
While Day is an offensive guy, he wasn’t too pleased with the defensive effort he saw. He had a few words about it during his halftime interview.
“35 points in the first half is ridiculous,” Day said.

Ohio State was already making some changes to its defensive staff before the Rose Bowl. The Buckeyes hired Jim Knowles away from Oklahoma State, ready to fix a unit that struggled in 2021.
While the Buckeyes saw some key guys opt out, the 35 points allowed is pretty inexcusable. It only reinforces that Day made the right decision to make a change to the staff.
