Ryan Shazier’s father gives an update on his son’s injury

Former Buckeye Ryan Shazier’s father, Vernon, shared an update about his son’s condition. Vernon Shazier says that is son is seeing signs of “encouraging” improvement two weeks after he had spinal stabilization surgery.
“We have seen some improvement that is encouraging,” Vernon said to ESPN. “We’re taking it one day at a time. We do not know what tomorrow holds. It’s a [daily] journey we don’t know. But I know God is getting the message.”
Ryan Shazier is in his fourth season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and on Dec. 4, he suffered a serious spine injury while trying to make a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals. The former Ohio State linebacker started the rehab process last Friday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
