Sam Hubbard is not focusing on potential departure to the NFL

While redshirt junior defensive end Sam Hubbard still has one year left of eligibility at Ohio State, he might be in his final season in Columbus.
The defensive end from Cincinnati participated in last week’s Senior Tackle, a tradition usually reserved for outgoing Ohio State players. That created a stir. But on Wednesday, he made it known that he has yet to make a decision on whether or not he will go pro after this season.
“(Senior Tackle) was just an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up,” Hubbard said to Eleven Warriors. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do next year. Just focusing on winning the Big Ten championship, but it’s just an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up if I do make that decision.”
Hubbard, a second-team All-Big Ten selection who leads all Ohio State defensive linemen with 36 total tackles this season, certainly has incentive to go to the NFL. He is viewed by many NFL scouts as a potential first round pick. However, Hubbard could still decide that the opportunity to play one more year with the Buckeyes.
