Sam Hubbard provided a play for the ages in Sunday’s AFC playoff win for the Cincinnati Bengals. His 98-yard scoop-and-score touchdown in the fourth quarter gave the Bengals a lead the team would not relinquish in a 24-17 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
After the game, Hubbard was asked about his big-time play. He admitted the moment was beyond his wildest dreams and the moment seeing the faces of his teammates is something that cannot be replicated.
“You can’t even dream that one up, pretty special… Just running to the sideline and seeing everyone’s face,” said Hubbard. “You can’t replicate a feeling like that in life, it’s really special.”
Hubbard also admitted he was tracking the play on the big screen as he ran down the field. Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews was in hot pursuit of Hubbard and nearly tracked him down short of the end zone.
“I was watching on the big screen: ‘He’s coming, someone block him, please!’ Please don’t get caught, that’s all I was thinking about,” Hubbard revealed.
