San Jose State football lost a member of its team recently. A player passed away after getting hit by a bus while riding a scooter, according to NBCBayArea.com.

The player was later revealed to be Camdan McWright. McWright played running back for the Spartans and was a freshman on the team out of Sylmar, California. He last played in the team’s Week 5 game against UNLV.

This is heartbreaking considering how McWright’s college career had just begun. McWright was a former 3-star recruit per the 247Sports Composite. He chose San Jose State over Army and Portland State.

Here’s what San Jose State’s coach Brent Brennan had to say about his passing:

We lost an amazing young man tragically this morning. Camdan had a bright future ahead of him and everyone in this community that had the opportunity to spend time with him knew that. We are still trying to deal with the news of this tragedy, and appreciate everyone’s support during these difficult times. Our thoughts and prayers are with the McWright family and I want them to know we are all here for them. Camdan will always be in our hearts and he will be profoundly missed.
