Saquon Barkely and the New York Giants were reportedly not able to reach a new deal on Monday. Barkley talked about what that could mean for his 2023 season on ‘The Money Matters Podcast’.

Barkley discussed the leverage he has in the situation. Here’s what Barkley had to say about it (NSFW):

“My leverage is I could say, ‘F–k you’ to the Giants, I could say, ‘F–k you’ to my teammates. And be like, ‘You want me to show you my worth? You want me to show you how valuable I am to the team? I won’t show up. I won’t play a down.’ And that’s a play I could use. I might have to take it to this level.”

Barkley accounted for 1,312 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns last season for the Giants. If he decides to hold out this season, it will definitely affect the backfield.

Veteran players on the Giants report to training camp on July 25. We’ll see if Barkley and New York can agree on an extension before that, or if it takes any longer.

It is clear that the Penn State product wants to be paid what he deserves.
