Saquon Barkley explains why he will not attend Giants’ upcoming mandatory minicamp

Saquon Barkley had a comeback for the ages last season.
Finally healthy, the Penn State RB product returned to being one of the top running backs in the NFL last season. As a result, the Giants’ offense looked as strong as it has in recent years.
That makes Barkley a valuable asset for the Giants organization. Despite it not being a historically wise move to pay running back, (due to health concerns and, to a certain extent, expendability of the position) paying Barkley seems like a good idea for an organization such as New York.
But according to Barkley, the 2 sides have still failed to come to a “fair” agreement. He released a statement on why he will not be attending the camp Sunday.
Giants’ franchise RB Saquon Barkley confirmed after the Saquon Barkley Youth Football Camp in Jersey City, NJ today that he will not be at his team’s mandatory minicamp this week. Barkley still has not signed his franchise tender.

This is a more upfront way to approach this than history has shown but still has the potential to be bad for the Giants. Then again, from the team’s point of view it’s hard to pay big bucks to a player who is known for injury issues.
Barkley rushed for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, among the best numbers of his career to this point.
