Saquon Barkley’s 2022 season has been special. How special? This time last year, many believed his best days were behind him after another lackluster and injury-filled campaign.

According to Pro Football Focus, Barkley currently leads the NFL in most scrimmage yards per game at 125.3. He also currently leads the NFL in rushing yards (931). Barkley has rushed for 39 first downs and 6 touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards per play.

The New York Giants have been 1 of the NFL’s biggest surprises at the midway point of the season. Sitting at 7-2, postseason aspirations are alive and well. As is Barkley’s Comeback Player of the Year chances following a strong start to the new campaign.

Barkley is coming off 1 of his better games of the season where he rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans. This year, he has 4 games of 100+ rushing yards and has scored a touchdown on 6 different occasions.

With less than 100 yards to go, Barkley will likely surpass the 1,000-yard marker for the 3rd time in his career. Last season, Barkley rushed for 593 yards and 5.3 yards per attempt in 13 games.

The former Penn State running back is set to become a free agent following the 2022 season.
