Nebraska head coach Scott Frost likely has a little pep in his step after Saturday’s win against Penn State. He’s not the only one.
There were plenty of people inside of the Nebraska locker room and in Lincoln who were definitely distraught about how the 2020 season started.
Though this is just one win against a winless Penn State team that appears to be at a rock bottom of sorts, it’s.a jumping off point for a Husker team that needed it badly.
Frost acknowledged after the game just how much of a relief it was to finally have a win in 2020.
Scott Frost on the victory today: "The state needed it. The team needed it. I needed it."

In the season opener, Nebraska was beat soundly by Ohio State. That was to be expected as the Huskers are still building under Frost and the Buckeyes have their sights set on a national championship.
But after a canceled game in Week 2, Nebraska and its fans were optimistic heading into the home opener against Northwestern. But the Huskers lost that game in a sloppy effort filled with turnovers and breakdowns defensively.
That loss certainly left a sour taste in the mouth of many in Lincoln. And while the win against Penn State wasn’t pretty, it was at least a win and something to build on.
After Saturday’s win, Nebraska has a winnable game against Illinois at home. Then, things toughen up as the Huskers have consecutive road games at Iowa and Purdue. Winning just one of those matchups would be a big victory for Scott’s crew.
To end the season, Nebraska hosts a reeling Minnesota team. That is certainly a winnable game. It appears at least a 3-4 record isn’t out of the realm of possibilities for the Huskers.
