Scott Frost comments on McKenzie Milton’s big night for Florida State: ‘He’s family to me’

Seriously, how do you find a better college football story — or sports story, for that matter — than McKenzie Milton?
Almost three years ago, Milton suffered a brutal knee injury and was told he’d never play football again. Sunday night, he nearly led Florida State to a comeback victory over No. 9 Notre Dame.
Everyone was talking about Milton’s comeback, including his former coach, Scott Frost. Frost coached Milton at UCF from 2016-17 before leaving for Nebraska.
“He’s family to me,” Frost said at his weekly press conference on Monday. “He went through something hard. I’m glad to see him having success. He deserves it.”

Milton transferred to Florida State this offseason and competed with Jordan Travis for the starting job. He entered the game against Notre Dame when Florida State’s Travis had his helmet knocked off in the fourth quarter. He completed five of his seven passes for 48 yards and nearly led the Seminoles to a game-winning drive.
Florida State is set to play Jacksonville State on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET.
