Scott Frost expecting bigger role for WR Omar Manning in 2021

Expectations were high for wide receiver Omar Manning when he committed to the Huskers, but things did not get off to a strong start in 2020.
Manning originally joined Nebraska as the No. 2 JUCO prospect and a 4-star recruit for the class of 2020. He spent 2 years at Kilgore College and recorded 35 catches for 727 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns during 2019. Manning was named a second-team JUCO All-American for that performance.
Unfortunately, Manning did not see much playing time during the shortened 2020 campaign. He appeared in 1 game but failed to register a catch.
Heading into 2021, head coach Scott Frost is expecting a bigger performance from Manning. During a Thursday evening radio interview, Frost said Manning has been much improved throughout fall camp, raising the expectation level for this season.
WR Omar Manning is a “completely different guy” from last season, Frost says. He’s had a good camp and only been “nicked up” once.
Frost: “I think you can expect to see him make some plays for us.”

Frost also touched on a number of other topics Thursday. He said the Huskers will be back on the East sideline of Memorial Stadium this fall after switching to the West in 2020. Frost was unable to add anything else in regards to the ongoing NCAA investigation and indicated Nebraska has been using officials in every practice to work on limiting penalties this season.
Frost says Nebraska has had officials at every other practice this fall in an effort to help curtail penalties and mistakes. It’s been a major emphasis in camp.

Frost says Nebraska will be back on the east sidelines at Memorial Stadium this year after moving to the west side last year with no fans.
