Scott Frost issues statement on B1G’s decision to suspend Khalil Davis

Nebraska head coach Scott Frost has issued a statement following the B1G’s decision to suspend Huskers defensive lineman Khalil Davis for one game for an incident in Saturday’s game against Ohio State.
On Wednesday afternoon, the B1G announced that Khalil Davis has been suspended for this week’s matchup against Northwestern in Lincoln for violating the conference’s sportsmanship policy last Saturday against Ohio State. It will be a one-game suspension.
According to the release from the B1G, Davis struck an opposing player near the 9:18 mark of the first quarter in the game against Ohio State. The specifics of the incident were not made public in the release. Below is the B1G statement:
“The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of the competition, civility toward all and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials.”
Later in the day, Frost issued a statement of his own. He and the rest of the Nebraska staff support the disciplinary action taken by the B1G.
“We have been in communication with the Big Ten Conference Office over the past day regarding Khalil Davis, and support the Big Ten’s disciplinary action. We do not condone unsportsmanlike play or behavior in our program, and will use this as an educational opportunity with our team on how to play the game the right way. We are moving forward with our preparation for Saturday’s game with Northwestern.”
Davis has been the leading pass rusher for Nebraska this season, totaling three sacks on the year, a team best. He’s also collected six tackles for loss and 17 total tackles, with 13 being solo stops.
