Scott Frost not taking Illinois lightly: ‘They hit the crap out of us last year’

Nebraska finally got itself up and going in 2020 as the Huskers defeated Penn State for win No. 1 in 2020.
Now that Nebraska is over that hump, the next challenge comes on Saturday against Illinois. Like the Huskers, the Illini got that all important win No. 1 on Saturday. Both teams enter the game looking to continue that momentum.
Based on what we’ve seen in 2020, it appears that Nebraska would be the favorite. Early money lines have the Huskers favored by as many as 14 points.
But despite Nebraska being considered a favorite, Husker head coach Scott Frost is certainly not taking the Illini lightly.

The last part is most definitely true. Just look at the carousel of quarterbacks taking snaps in games for Illinois this season. The list is longer than any you might see for a team in one season.
Last year, this game came right down to the wire. Nebraska trailed 35-27 heading into the fourth quarter. The Huskers roared back with a 15-point fourth quarter and emerged victorious in Champagne, 42-38.
Despite the loss, Illinois had plenty of things to like. Though the Illini had just 299 yards of total offense, Illinois forced four turnovers. Meanwhile, Nebraska’s offense had quite the day with 674 yards. But this Husker offense will look different from 2019 as it appears Luke McCaffrey has emerged as the Huskers starting quarterback.
