With Adrian Martinez deciding to hit the NCAA transfer portal, Nebraska is in a bit of a pinch at the quarterback position. It’s made Scott Frost and his staff think about going into the portal to bring someone in.
Nebraska still has some options on the roster — Logan Smothers, Heinrich Haarberg and newcomer Richard Torres. But lacking the kind of experience Martinez brought to the field, Frost says he’s open to looking into the portal to add someone to the position group.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Frost said he is “leaning” toward looking into the NCAA transfer portal to bring someone else into the program.
Frost isn’t going to grab just any quarterback, though. He says it has to be “the right one.”
Frost said QB is "definitely a spot where we're taking a look at every kid we can" in the portal. Has to be the right guy, but said they're leaning toward taking a quarterback in the portal. As most probably have suspected.

Martinez spent 4 seasons as the starting quarterback for the Huskers, leaving the program as the all-time leader in offensive production. His departure was somewhat surprising, given how much he meant to the program.
With so many quarterbacks entering the transfer portal during the offseason, it’ll be interesting to see who Nebraska targets in the coming days, weeks and months.
