Scott Frost reportedly hired as Nebraska head coach

Scott Frost is headed home.
During UCF’s game against Memphis in the AAC Championship game, Brett McMurphy reported that that Frost and Nebraska had reached a deal to make him the next head coach of the Huskers.

Frost has been Nebraska’s top choice from the beginning, and for good reason. Frost is a homegrown product and was the starting quarterback for the Huskers’ 1997 national championship team. In his two years as head coach at UCF, he’s completely transformed a winless program into the best Group of Five program in the country.
The Knights were playing Memphis in the AAC Championship when the news was announced.
Nebraska hasn’t been a national contender for some time now and has only competed for one B1G title since joining the conference in 2011. The Huskers played Wisconsin in the 2012 B1G Championship Game but was blown off the field in a 70-31 decision.
Frost replaces Mike Riley, who was promptly fired the morning after Nebraska’s season finale against Iowa. The Huskers ended the year with a 4-8 record and were blown out several times in the final weeks. Nebraska was 19-19 in three years under Riley.
