What Scott Frost said following Nebraska’s loss to Colorado

Well, Nebraska did not win in Scott Frost’s debut, but there were some encouraging signs in the loss to Nebraska.
QB Adrian Martinez was one of the positive takeaways from Saturday’s loss. The freshman QB showed he is a legitimate dual-threat that can make life difficult for opposing defenses. He was knocked out of the game late in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a knee injury.
On the other side of the ball, Nebraska’s defense left a lot to be desired. The run defense was impressive, but Colorado QB Steven Montez threw for over 300 yards and provided the game-winning score late in the fourth.
All-in-all, it was a disappointing end to Frost’s Nebraska debut. Here is what the head coach had to say following the game:
Frost: “If we didn’t beat ourselves today, we would have won the game.” #huskers

Frost said he told the team he's broken-hearted for them, but proud of them.

Frost’s first question is on the late penalty: “Somebody smarter than me will have to decide (if it was a penalty).”

Frost: “Some freshman mistakes we wish we could have gotten out of the way last week.”

Frost calls Martinez’s injury “semi-encouraging.” Will talk more when he knows more.

Frost: “Defense at times looked like the Blackshirts… we stopped the run all day.”

Frost: “I thought Adrian played a great game, especially for a first game.”

Frost was happy with how his team moved the ball and said there were moments the defense looked like the Blackshirts. "For three quarters I was having about as much fun coaching as I've had in my life." Says losing kind of wipes everything out of you.

Frost on pass call in 4th: Wasn’t time to just run out clock. Wanted to stay aggressive and score.

"Having a game last week probably would've helped in the way we came out and played today," Frost said. "You spot any decent team 14 points, it's hard to come back. I was proud of our kids in that situation." #Huskers
