Week 11 in the B1G is going to be a good one with two ranked showdowns taking center stage.

The one game in the conference everyone is talking about is Penn State vs Minnesota. Minnesota needs a win to make a statement to the CFP Committee and maintain a two-game lead in the B1G West. Penn State needs a win to maintain pace with Ohio State in the B1G East and in the Playoff Rankings.

While announcing his weekly against the spread picks, ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt made sure to highlight the showdown in Minneapolis. Minnesota enters the game as a +6.5 underdog, and SVP is rolling with the Gophers to cover that line:

“Minnesota! Sorry GameDay’s not there, had a little top-three matchup in Tuscaloosa,” said Van Pelt. “Your consolation prize: I’m rowing the boat! Ski-U-Mah! Minnesota, plus the 6.5.”

The second ranked game that is drawing less attention this weekend is Iowa vs Wisconsin. In year’s past, this game may have decided the B1G West. While the winner will still be behind Minnesota in the standings, a loss by the Gophers to Penn State would set up a big showdown between Minnesota and the winner of Iowa and Wisconsin in Madison.

This time, SVP went with the favorite – Wisconsin – take care of the spread:

“Wisconsin, off a couple of losses in a row, giving Iowa 9.5. We’re banking on Bucky being in a FURIOUS mood,” explained Van Pelt.
