Sean Clifford discusses Cotton Bowl, hints at availability vs Memphis

Sean Clifford missed Penn State’s season finale vs Rutgers, but it sounds like he may be ready for the Cotton Bowl appearance.
Clifford was originally dinged up in Penn State’s loss to Ohio State with Will Levis finishing that game. Levis played well at times but did have a crucial interception late against the Buckeyes. He threw for 81 yards, a touchdown, and an interception against Rutgers and rushed for 108 yards in the win.
With the Early Signing Period kicking off on Wednesday, Clifford was interviewed to discuss a few things. Among things brought up were the bowl game, and Clifford indicated he is excited for the first bowl game he’ll get the opportunity to start in.
Ben Jones with StateCollege.com shared Clifford’s comments:
“This is my first bowl game to get to play in, start in,” Clifford told Penn State in-house reporter Mitch Gerber during an interview on the Nittany Lions’ official Signing Day livestream Wednesday.
“Bowl games are just an exciting time to show all the work you put in all year and show it in front of your fans. This is going to propel us for next year.”
Based on those comments, it sure sounds like Clifford will be suiting up to face Memphis come kickoff. He has thrown for over 2,500 yards and rushed for another 374 in his first year as the starter for the Nittany Lions.
