Sean Clifford is ‘wired the way you’d want a QB to be wired,’ says James Franklin

Sean Clifford received the unenviable task of replacing Penn State legend Trace McSorley under center, but he has done an admirable job through five games.
So far, Clifford has guided the Nittany Lions to an undefeated record, another win over in-state rival Pitt, and blowout B1G victories over Maryland and Purdue. He has also been incredibly efficient.

Clifford has completed 66.7% of passes (90-for-135) while throwing for 1,443 yards, 12 TDs, and rushing for 200 more yards and two scores. Along with his individual play, Clifford is leading an offense that ranks fifth nationally in points per game with 47.
When discussing his redshirt sophomore signal-caller, head coach James Franklin had plenty of praise for Clifford. Franklin said he knows when to turn it on and when to have fun, and he’s also wired well for a quarterback.

Franklin on Sean Clifford: "He's a fiery guy. He's a guy who has fun — whether it's in practice or in meetings. He's wired the way you'd want a quarterback to be wired." He also noted that Clifford knows when to lock in and be serious and when to be fun."

Clifford will try to keep his strong play rolling in a tough environment on the road against Iowa.
