It looks like the Seattle Seahawks knew who they were gonna take in the 2nd round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Seahawks ended up taking 2 former B1G studs off the board with the 40th and 41st picks.

The 1st of the pair taken was Minnesota edge rusher Boye Mafe, followed up by Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker III. Both are heading to Seattle. Walker was the 1st B1G running back taken, but not the first RB chosen. Iowa State’s Breece Hall got taken by the New York Jets with the 36th overall pick.

Mafe was the Golden Gopher’s sack leader in 2021 with 7 sacks. He also had 34 total tackles. The B1G Running Back of the Year, Walter Camp winner, Doak Walker winner, and Heisman finalist had 1,636 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns for the Spartans.

Mafe entered his name in the 2022 NFL Draft following his redshirt senior season, while Walker left East Lansing after his junior year.

We’ll see how Mafe and Walker will adjust to the NFL as the next step in their playing careers has begun.
