Another Maryland defensive back has decided to hit the transfer portal since the conclusion of Maryland’s spring practice schedule on Saturday.

Rivals.com is reporting that Devyn King has entered his name into the database. He appeared in 3 games for the Terrapins during the 2021 campaign and was credited with 2 tackles on the year.

Both stops came against Virginia Tech in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. The Terrapins closed out the year with a 7-6 record.

King spent two seasons in College Park but the 2021 season was the only one in which he saw game action. He will have all four years of eligibility to utilize at his next destination.

Over the weekend, the Terrapins lost Lavonte Gater to the portal as well.

Gater appeared in all 30 games for Mike Locksley’s squad over the past 3 seasons. In his career, he has made 59 tackles with a pass breakup and a forced fumble.

Gater is entering his senior season. He also has the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver to return for a fifth year as a super senior. Gater has yet to use a redshirt.

Maryland will be entering the fourth season of the Mike Locksley era in 2022. The Terrapins reached their first bowl game under Locksley in 2021.
