Kirk Herbstreit is loving the Big Ten this past week, the ESPN analyst giving some major love to the conference in his weekly accolades.

A total of four Big Ten coaches occupying three slots were named to Herbstreit’s in his ‘My Top Performing Coaches of Week 12.’ Topping the list was the Northwestern duo of head coach Pat Fitzgerald and defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz. Northwestern upended then No. 10 Wisconsin 17-7 this past Saturday.

In doing so, the Wildcats are now no. 11 in the AP Top 25 Poll as well as eighth in the recently released College Football Playoff ranking.

Coming in second on the list is Minnesota’s P.J. Fleck, who orchestrated a 34-31 win over Purdue this weekend. Minnesota, after a rough start, has won two of their last three games. They face Northwestern this weekend.

Kirk Ferentz also made Herbstreit’s weekly kudos. Iowa, after losing their first two games of the season, has won three straight after beating Penn State 41-21 this past week. The Iowa head coach sees himself fifth on the weekly list.

Not making the list is Indiana’s Tom Allen, who was masterful in nearly beating no. 3 Ohio State on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Hoosiers are now 4-1 and no. 12 in the AP Top 25 Poll after their 42-35 to Ohio State.
