After battling six surgeries this summer, Larry Prout, Jr., Michigan’s youngest signee, is ready for the football season to finally get underway.
Prout, a Howell, Mich. native, was born was born with spina bifida, choacal extrophy, massive omphalocele, short gut syndrome and several other illnesses that have resulted in more than 90 surgeries throughout his life.
Last year – you might remember – Michigan signed the then 15-year-old during the program’s Team IMPACT’s “draft day.”
Prout’s mother tweeted this photo recently, saying that he son was ready for the Wolverines to be back on the gridiron:

Prout’s continued fight has been an inspirational story and one that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh admires.
“Larry’s a great guy. He has a great family and we’re real happy today. Our team just got bigger,” Harbaugh told MLive.com back in October. “That’s a very important thing for us. It’s an honor to share our sideline with Larry.”
In just a few weeks, Prout will finally be able to watch his favorite team take the field again when Michigan battles Florida in Week 1.
