A few Penn State stars will have important decisions to make in the coming weeks. With the 2019 season officially in the books following a Cotton Bowl victory over Memphis, the decision of whether to return to State College or declare for the NFL Draft awaits.

One of those individuals deliberating that decision is defensive lineman Shaka Toney. Asked after the game if he has made up his mind, Toney admitted that he hasn’t really given it much thought.

“I probably should have put a lot more thought into it,’ Toney said, according to The Inquirer. “I had to take a bigger leadership role this year, be an older guy. Not everybody is ready for that, but when I stepped into that role, I kind of enjoyed it.

“I just got so caught up with the season that I didn’t really think about what I’m going to do. So I’m taking this week to really think about it, and I’ll make a decision.”

Toney was a key member of a stout defensive line for Penn State this year, collecting eight tackles for loss and 6.5 tackles for loss. He also tallied 39 total stops.

He would have one more year of eligibility remaining, and would be the anchor up front for the Nittany Lions. With Yetur Gross-Matos already deciding to pursue the NFL Draft, he would be the premier guy on the defensive line.

Toney expects to make his decision in early January.
