Shaun Wade is prepping for April’s NFL Draft, and he recently sat down with Pro Football Focus to discuss his time in college.
Among other things, Wade was asked about the task he faced during practice as a part of Ohio State’s defense. During his time with the Buckeyes, Wade went up against some of the best, including Terry McLaurin, Chris Olave, and Garrett Wilson.
When asked about those practices, Wade admitted there were days when the defensive back group would get shredded by multiple deep balls in succession:
“I can just tell you one where they torched the whole DB group the whole practice,” said Wade. “It’ll be three deep balls back-to-back-to-back, and it would be a new DB and new receiver.”
Wade went on to share what he thinks makes Olave and Wilson so special on the field:
“Chris is very, very fast, he gets out of his break very well and he has great hands,” explained Wade. “With Garrett, Garrett’s just a freak of nature. He makes impossible catches, and he’s just a freak of nature at the end of the day.”

Going up against some of the best in practice will hopefully pay off as Wade makes the transition to the NFL. PFF has also ranked Wilson and Olave as the top WR duo returning to college for 2021.
