Sherrone Moore calls Jeremiah Smith ‘best college football player out there’

Sherrone Moore and Michigan held Jeremiah Smith to just 5 catches and 35 yards in their win over Ohio State in November.
That shouldn’t take away from the season Smith had as a true freshman, making 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns while finishing as an All-American and a first-team All-Big Ten player. Headed into his second season, the South Florida native will be a central figure as the Buckeyes look to make it back-to-back national championships.
Moore joked that he “can’t give away all the secrets” to stopping Smith, but he’ll be looking to keep him contained once more in 2025.
“He’s going to make plays ’cause he’s probably the best college football player that’s out there. “He’s the lead. So you gotta do everything you can to put the game out of his hands.”
Moore stressed, though, that beating Ohio State for a fifth straight time will rely on not simply limiting Smith’s impact, but will take a total team effort.
“You’re going to do everything you can just as a team to go win, offensively, special teams, defensively,” he said. “It’s got to be a team event to win that game. So we’ll get to that game when we get there. We think about that one enough.”
