Sherrone Moore, Michigan OC, reportedly receives one-game suspension

Sherrone Moore enters the 2023 season as Michigan’s lone offensive coordinator and the program’s elite offensive line coach. Unfortunately, Moore — one of Jim Harbaugh’s top assistants — will reportedly be unavailable in the season opener.
According to Angelique Chengelis with The Detroit News, Moore will serve a one-game suspension and that suspension is expected to be served during Michigan’s season opener against East Carolina. Chengelis reports Moore’s suspension is a penalty that was approved by the NCAA Committee on Infractions as part of a negotiated resolution.
That suspension comes on the heels of Jim Harbaugh receiving a self-imposed 3-game suspension from Michigan as the program works through the remnants of an NCAA investigation. Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter will assume head coaching responsibilities in the season opener, Michigan announced this week.
While Moore is expected to miss the opener, the Wolverines have already announced he will serve as the acting head coach against Bowling Green, the final game of Harbaugh’s suspension. Moore is viewed as a rising candidate for potential head coaching opportunities, so this could be a big learning opportunity for him.
B1G analyst Anthony Herron previously hinted at the fact Moore was not expected to be with Michigan for the season opener. Herron cited the absences of Moore and Harbaugh in Week 1 as the most impactful parts of Harbaugh’s suspension.
