In the coming weeks, there will be plenty of preseason polls that vary from media outlet to media outlet. When it comes to the preseason rankings, though, Phil Steele’s are taken among the most serious.
The college football preseason magazine guru listed his preseason top 25, which includes six teams from the B1G. Considering the extensive and exhaustive research he does each and every year, there’s a good reason to put some stock in his preview.
Steele has said that he believes Michigan is a team that will win the B1G and reach the College Football Playoff, so it’s no surprise to see the Wolverines leading the way for the conference at No. 3. He also has Ohio State, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State and Iowa in the poll.
Here’s what his full top 25 looks like:
- Alabama
- Clemson
- Michigan
- Georgia
- Oklahoma
- Ohio State
- LSU
- Utah
- Notre Dame
- Florida
- Texas
- Oregon
- Michigan State
- TCU
- Miami
