Brian Hartline made it clear that he was all-in on remaining at Ohio State following the 2022 season. Now, his loyalty is being rewarded.

Hartline was named the Buckeyes’ next offensive coordinator, replacing Kevin Wilson following the team’s 42-41 loss to Georgia in the Peach Bowl. Wilson was named Tulsa’s head coach prior to the College Football Playoff, but elected to stay with the program through New Year’s Eve.

A former Ohio State receiver, Hartline returned to Columbus in 2017 as an offensive quality control coach under Urban Meyer. A year later, he took over for Zach Smith as the interim receivers coach before being promoted full-time in 2018.

Last season, Hartline added pass game coordinator to his title along with receivers coach. Since taking over for Smith, the 36-year-old has been one of the top position coaches in the sport, working with receivers such as Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jameson Williams, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and All-American Marvin Harrison Jr.

Hartline was linked this offseason to the Cincinnati head coaching opening following the departure of Luke Fickell to Wisconsin. He later posted to Twitter that he was aware of the speculation, but “right now my heart is at Ohio State.”
