Losing to the No. 20 Michigan Wolverines, 52-0, on Saturday, Rutgers finally made the decision to part ways with head coach Chris Ash on Sunday.
Midway through his fourth season in Piscataway, Ash ends his tenure with an 8-32 (3-26 B1G) record.
Unsurprisingly, social media was not caught off guard by the move and got some typical jabs in at the Scarlet Knights.
In honor of #CFB150, Rutgers is starting fresh by firing head coach Chris Ash and OC John McNulty; TE coach Nunzio Campanile will take over as interim head (he previously had a successful run as a HS head coach): https://t.co/QR80qWGO1a

Forcing former Ohio State DC Chris Ash out of a job is the closest Jim Harbaugh has gotten to a win over the Buckeyes.

Rutgers football was a solid program when Greg Schiano left in 2011. It took kyle flood and chris ash just 7+ years to return it to pre-schiano level terry shea-like embarrassment #rutgers

As a third-generation #Rutgers alum, I'm embarrassed by our football program. Chris Ash is the worst Power Five coach in the country & should be fired immediately. It's a shame that years after Greg Schiano made @RFootball respectable, the program has to be rebuilt all over again

In Chris Ash's four years in charge at Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights had as many wins (8) as shutout losses where they allowed at least 30 pointshttps://t.co/Z9YPvczGP3
