Social media rips Iowa OC Brian Ferentz following dismal first-half showing in Citrus Bowl

The start to 2022 has not gone smoothly for Iowa, and offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz is the target of most of the criticism to this point.
At halftime, the Hawkeyes trail Kentucky 13-3 with a lifeless offense failing to get much going. The team has 126 yards of offense but is 0-for-4 on 3rd downs and has 2 interceptions.
The 2 interceptions came courtesy of QB Spencer Petras who is also struggling in the Citrus Bowl. Petras is 10-for-16 at the break but has managed just 82 yards and has thrown 2 interceptions. That works out to 5.1 yards per pass attempt for the Hawkeye offense with Petras in the game.
Needless to say, fans are far from happy with the performance and have lit into Brian Ferentz on social media. Take a look:
Crossing route when you need to get vertical…Brian Ferentz is a weirdo.

Brian Ferentz is still embarrassing himself, his dad and Iowa. It's baffling that he still has his job, but we all know why.

Brian Ferentz must have pants from Duluth Trading. The offense is a dumpster fire and his ass doesn't even feel the heat.

I thought I hated Tim Beck/Ed Warriner but it’s nothing compared to how Iowa fans feel about Brian Ferentz

Wow. Iowa went all out zero blitz and it worked well. Phil Parker deserves all of Brian Ferentz’s bowl compensation and a steak dinner for good measure.

in another life, brian ferentz is slowly running his semi-retired dad’s car dealerships into the ground.

I love the Hawks. But unfortunately there's no way Brian Ferentz gets fired while Kirk is Head Coach, so we have at LEAST two more seasons of the BF/Petras ineptitude… We need Head Coach and OC changes. #hawkeyes #CitrusBowl
