At least one high roller in Vegas has a lot of confidence in Penn State taking the Cotton Bowl Classic trophy back to Happy Valley on Saturday night.
On Saturday morning, just a few minutes prior to kickoff between Penn State and Memphis in the Cotton Bowl, Las Vegas bookmaker Jimmy Vaccaro tweeted out one of the larger bets placed on the Nittany Lions for the game. Someone placed a $19,100 bet on PSU to cover as a 6.5-point favorite over Memphis.
The payout for a Penn State win by a touchdown or more would be just over $17,300 for a total collection of $36,463.

That’s a pretty confident bet.
Memphis lost head coach Mike Norvell to Florida State this offseason, and has some key players missing the game. Penn State was a favorite in the game before all the news came out, but this certainly made it easy to put money on the Nittany Lions.
We’ll see if this bettor is celebrating in style in a few hours.
