The B1G-Pac-12 series that will feature Michigan State and Washington will actually be played sooner than previously expected. Both schools announced they’re bumping up the home-and-home series by a few years.

Instead of the Spartans and Huskies playing a series in 2028 and 2031, the two teams will face off during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The news comes after Michigan State and Boise State agreed to end their home-and-home series, which was scheduled for 2022-23.

Washington will host Michigan State in Seattle on Sept. 17, 2022 and the Spartans will have the return game on Sept. 16, 2023 in East Lansing. The series will mark the fourth and fifth games between the two programs on the gridiron.

The last meeting between Michigan State and Washington was a 51-23 victory for the Huskies in the Aloha Bowl at the end of the 1997 season. Before that, the two schools had a home-and-home series during 1969 and 1970. The Spartans won the game in East Lansing 27-11 and UW defeated MSU 42-16 in Seattle.

Michigan State will have nonconference games against Western Michigan and Akron in 2022, both at home. In 2023, all three of MSU’s nonconference games will be played in East Lansing, hosting Central Michigan and Richmond along with Washington.
