With Week 1 just 1 day away for some B1G teams, that means it’s time to look at some SP+ picks as it projects each game around not just the B1G, but college football overall.
There’s a lot of juicy matchups around the conference this weekend, including Indiana-Iowa, Penn State-Wisconsin, and Michigan State-Northwestern.
Indiana-Iowa is likely the biggest matchup of the 3 here though, as it’s between 2 of the top 20 teams in the country.
Here’s who SP+ thinks is going to win each game across the conference and by what score:
- Ohio State 37, Minnesota 28
- Wisconsin 27, Penn State 23
- Iowa 28, Indiana 21
- Michigan State 21, Northwestern 18
- Maryland 28, West Virginia 24
- Michigan 39, Western Michigan 20
- Rutgers 30, Temple 21
- Illinois 31, UTSA 26
- Purdue 37, Oregon State 29
- Nebraska 48, Fordham 5
Some of these matchups yield the expected result, though it is interesting that SP+ has Maryland taking down West Virginia. The Mountaineers bring a lot of experience back for this season, and considering how Maryland is still a young team, it’s a bit surprising the pick isn’t WVU.
It’s also intriguing that the Buckeyes-Golden Gophers game is below 10 points but Mohamed Ibrahim could be a major factor in that game.
